Our Big Vacation 2011
A long vacation deserves a long blog. And this vacation was exactly what my wife and I needed after doing another successful wedding season. Not only that, but my brother in law, Neil aka Macho, also came to visit us for his very own one month long vacation. Being it his first time in America, we wanted to make his and our vacation worth while. We knew we wanted to hit up some big spots for him to see and also some new places for us to see as well. Our list of places were Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Las Vegas, The Grand Canyon, Orlando, Fl., Washington D.C. and of course, New York. Although listed are only 8 cities (3 in CA), we ended up going to 12 cities, 9 different states 7 airplane rides and who knows how many miles of driving and walking we did.
In Los Angeles we had an opportunity to capture some celebrities. Kim Kardashian's butt is really that big. Shamu was at his usual, showing off for everyone in San Diego. The only downfall of San Diego was the weather. Out of all the sunny days there, it was gloomy and somewhat cold. We got to see the spooky Alcatraz in San Francisco while we enjoyed fresh seafood daily. KA was an amazing Cirque du Soleil show in Vegas, its a must see. That rotating stage with the ninjas fighting upside down was insane! The only thing that ruined it was the drunk guy 5 seats to my right who threw up everything he ate that day on the floor. The Grand Canyon, wow. Being there felt so unreal. You stand there look into the distance and you think its fake. Unreal. The Harry Potter theme park in Florida is as fun as the movie. The butter beer was very delicious! Also in Orlando, Berdette ziplined over gators and we almost got attacked by gators at one point riding the airboat. Besides the ghetto-ness outside the borders of Washington D.C., the place was filled with history. I couldn't believe I was standing in front of where President Abraham Lincoln got assassinated. And then there was New York. It fit my personality, but I don't think I could ever live there. It was madness in Times Square. Fashion, art and music was displayed everywhere. The subways was scary at first, but it's the way to go. Pizza at Grimaldi's was absolutely the best pizza I ever had. Central Park is as beautiful as shown in the movies. The Statue of Liberty is not as big as you think. All and all what an amazing time we had. Five days was not enough and would love to visit once more.
It's amazing after looking at these pictures from area to area, you can see how cultures change even if it's the same country. There are so much more to see in this country and Berdette and I will continue to travel the world. This vacation will always be one to remember.
